A COMPANION BORN OF A PIONEERING SPIRIT!

The new “Sputnik” model from Poljot-International pays tribute to the space age.

With the launch of the first artificial Earth satellite, “Sputnik 1”, on 4 October 1957, the Soviet Union set a historic milestone in the history of space travel.
Although the launch was originally scheduled for mid-1958, the surprise was all the greater when the Soviet project was successfully completed and launched as early as 1957. The spherical satellite, which resembled a small planet, took off ahead of schedule and re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere after 92 days, where it burned up.

The watch model of the same name, “Sputnik”, from Poljot-International symbolises this historic milestone – representing progress and the beginnings of space exploration. “Sputnik” itself
serves as the inspiration for this special watch model, whose entire design revolves precisely around the theme of space travel and its history.

The dial of the “Sputnik” design features a second time zone at 3 o’clock. The lower section depicts the globe, with the round “Sputnik” satellite orbiting the Earth above it – complete with its orbit. At the 6 o’clock position is the small seconds hand, which elegantly blends into the space-themed design as an orbit. A red hand allows for precise reading of the seconds. The hour markers are arranged in a rectangular pattern around the outer edge of the dial and coated with blue luminescent paint. At the 9 o’clock position is a day/night indicator, illustrated by a sun-moon-star design.

The result is a harmonious, space-inspired design that impressively captures the aesthetics of outer space. The leather strap, with its sky-blue hue, picks up on the ‘space travel’ theme and interprets it stylishly. The suede strap also features side stitching. The recessed metal logo blends harmoniously into the space-themed design and emphasises its distinctive look.

The skeletonised and engraved hand-wound calibre 9931-PI is visible through the glass caseback. This calibre boasts a power reserve of 36 hours. The round 43-millimetre stainless steel case is covered with a sapphire crystal.

The ‘Sputnik’ model shines and impresses with excellent value for money and a limited edition of just 400 pieces.
